A game... my answers were to Fil's Questions.
1. Leave me a comment saying, 'Interview me'.
2. I will respond by asking you five questions. I get to pick the questions.
3. Update your LJ with the answers to the questions.
4. Include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the same post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.
1. who's the most beautiful woman of the past 50 years?
Idk... I've never tried to pick one specific person, especially not someone famous; most people that I think are really beautiful are people that I see on a more day-to-day basis...
If you mean pretty, then maybe Audrey Hepburn? Liv Tyler? Joanna Newsom? This one would change more than likely every time you ask me; depending on who pops into my head at the time.
2. why do you prefer piano to viola?
Personally, I feel more able on the piano. Not that viola is horrible or anything, but I feel very clumsy when I pick up a viola, and I've never really been trained to play it properly. Nothing against the instrument itself, I just feel more comfortable, and more expressive on a piano.
3. what's the best thing about being a musician?
Chick musicians.
No, not really... actually, it's the ability to express an exact emotion, just like any other field of the arts. A painting, a written piece, a musical performance, all have the common thread of wanting to do something, to persuade or give an image. It's also very emotionally liberating to be able to sit down and literally 'play your heart out', and even more so when people understand what you are doing.
4. what do you listen for when you hear a piece of classical music for the first time? what about a new song by one of your favorite bands?
It depends really on what I'm listening to. I usually listen for content, in either scenario. In classical music, do I like the themes in the piece, do I like the way the themes are developed? Do I agree with the emotion being portrayed, and if not, is it something that I like? How is it being played? How does the player feel towards the piece?
Same with music from bands, but on a much different level. Usually musical quality, as well as lyrical content and attention to the melody is what I catch on the first pass. And, I try to pick up any cool stuff going on (underlying stuff, riffs, etc.)
Although, that's not really the first pass. Usually on the first pass, I listen for listening's sake... try to get caught up in what I'm listening to.
5. if for some reason you couldn't have any kind of career in music, what would you do for a living?
I don't know. I honestly don't think it would be anything analytical, it has to be somewhat creative. Stats is an odd choice for me, although it's more an interpretive art rather than an exact science. As far as other careers, idk, maybe writing or something. Certainly not microchemology or something awful.
