GDC Day 3 - Civilization
Well greetings all from rainy but now sunny San Francisco, site of this years Game Developers' Conference. This is Day 3 of the wonderful soiree and I'm still having a TON of fun!
First off, I am helping CCP again and actually putting in my resume with them. I love the company and corporate culture and I would kill to work for them. Thus I put my future in their hands! Well their's, and Intel's, and Ubisoft's, Pandemic's, Bioware's, IGT's, Crytek (Germany, YAAAAY), and that was all for today. I wasn't actually going to jobhunt today but with Phillip job hunting, I ended up along for the ride and very interested in what I saw.
We are going to the CCP party tomorrow night (Yay us again!). No, I am NOT going to indulge like last year....*sigh* that story is all around the company now. I am very well known. That is both a good and a bad thing, LOL. So far its all good, they like me and I got to see some awesome people I hadn't seen in a while.
The Q&A with Sid Meier was AWESOME! I took so many notes its not even funny! I'll type them up later and post them. I got his autograph which was nice and during the audience Q&A I asked about him redoing Alpha Centauri and he said it is very, very much a possibility. The best part was when I asked him if "Since your games are so addictive, have you ever considered being an evil overlord mastermind?" His response: "Yes but I'd be a benevolent dictator." while the interviewer's response was: "How do you know he isn't already?" :D Kudos points to me! Phillip talked to Sid too about his professor that used to work for Sid. Twas awesome all the way around.
Other than that we just hit all the booths and we're going to slam them again tomorrow and Friday. I'm getting business cards printed and resumes as well so I can hand some off. One can only see what comes of it.
Yay for us, and for a Valve party later. Wheeeee! See you all tomorrow!
