I had finally the time to watch the second episode of the season, and beside the OHMYGOD it was FANTASTIC, heartbreaking, perfectly played and totally super duper amazing - there's something else I noticed:
Supernatural suddenly does again what they rarely do, and what they almost never did in season six: they have a single plotline they keep following throughout the episodes! \o/
Most of you know that I liked season six very much. There were a lot of great episodes, the acting was AMAZING and hey, it's SHOW, so what's not to love. But as usual, and more than ever before, the pacing felt totally off for me. In my personal opinion, Supernatural's weak spot is the huge differences between episodes and the lack of the right steady pace and the connection between episodes.
Supernatural is the KING of dropping and killing plotlines like nobody's business. See: building up the God!Cas thing all over summer and killing that same plot the first episode. Then they made Cas into Leviathan!Cas (which was AMAZING and I'd loved to see more of that) and killed that plot right the next episode. Sometimes it's frustrating, there are still a lot of plot holes and a missing ends to certain other plots, but watching the show is WAY more to me than "just" the quality and continuity of the writing.
So.... what I wanted to say is, that, yes! - They're finally using little things from one episode to be important in the next (Sam's wound, the whole "I'm fine" story) and looking from the little trailer I've seen of the next episode, they seem to keep doing that! Three episodes in a row that are perfectly connected! I'm super happy!
So, yeah, I'm super mega happy about the way season seven started and is going right now! I've got my little brotherly moments, I'm in NO WAY concerned about Cas and Bobby - they're gonna show up again at one time or another, I believe - and I couldn't be happier with Nick!Lucifer being back (I didn't even know how much I loved and missed this guy). Of course they're gonna be the monster-of-the-week episodes which I don't really like, but hey, they're a part of Supernatural, but I hope they stay strong for a little while and keep connecting all eps :)
and wow, this got way longer than I wanted it to... so, hey :) how are you guys? :)
