Week Nine: Drama

May 02, 2009 18:39

This week has been a very interesting week, and I say this particularly about Literature. As most of you, my fellow Literature acquaintances will know, we are doing a drama performance for our next assessment. Being given the option to choose which play we would like to do, and which group we would like to be in, our last literature lecture allowed us to introduce ourselves to our group members and join our ideas together to form an idea about how we are to complete our drama performances. Coincidentally, I came to find that majority of the people in my group are familiar individuals who I have become friends with, and have worked with previously, in group discussions which made me feel more confident about how we are going to complete the assessment.

After a hearty discussion about our ideas and finalising the character roles for each person, I am quite pleased to announce that I have been assigned the role of the Grandmother, 'Abuela'. In saying this however, playing the role of this character will definitely be quite challenging, as most (if not ALL) of my dialogue will be spoken in Spanish! Although I am personally not Spanish, as a filipina, alot of my language is actually Spanish and I hope this will give me an advantage in playing the role and remembering my lines. Although this assessment is going to be a challenge, I am hoping that I will gain a better understanding of the whole acting process, working as a group, and more about myself. I'm sure that most people are excited at this whole entire prospect, and I can't wait to watch all of the different groups' performances on the day!

Til then!
