Per usual, it’s been awhile since I have last written. Writing about my life has seemed like the last thing I have wanted to do as of late since a large theme this semester has been writing. I just finished my capstone paper a week ago and despite being proud to be complete, I am still anxious for the results and I am also somewhat embarrassed on how long it took for me to get motivated about such a small paper (length-wise), particularly since I hash out papers of the same length on a fairly regular basis. Nevertheless, the paper topic, student support services for non-trads, has opened up a whole new door and excited me about continuing my work in the transfer student community within my building.
I know this: I like niches. Finding them is difficult but kindling them is a passion of mine.
I also know this: I am looking forward to traversing back to the buckeye state next week for turkey day. It is hard to believe that it has in reality been almost 7 months since I last visited “home” but I quickly realize the vast amount of transitions that have taken place throughout this void: closing and end of the spring semester, trip and internship in Texas, the roadtrip back, almost 2 months of trainings, opening, fall semester, and many projects.
I look forward to seeing my fat cat and puppy---it’s been a long time coming.
We are currently en route back to NIU from Fort Wayne, where I have been for the past several days for a professional conference. I always enjoy these conferences as they take on more of a family reunion persona than 3 days of presentations and fancy dinners.
