One way to train a kitten not to do something is to make a loud noise when he does it so he will associate that behavior with a frightening stimulus. So when Gandalf stuck his face into my glass of Meijer-brand cola, I clapped loudly and he jumped up in surprise. And then spent the next five minutes intently staring at the bubbling liquid, trying to discern the source of its wondrous sound-producing power. Every time he'd lean in too close, I'd clap again, soft or loud depending on the distance, just to fuck with him. A pity that the adoption agreement came with a proviso not to use the animal in any psychological experiments...
