ZETSUBOU SHITAAAAA and my thoughts on Twilight

I thought we were done with promotions but as always I was WRONG. -_-; promotions extended till this Friday which means more of the broken-record-emulating. This had better be the very last time they are extending promotions because I think I'm ready to go on a rampage already.

More I than E in the Myers-Briggs.

I don't remember what else I wanted to post about. lemme think...

OH YEAH.

For a few weeks, I have not read any newspaper to protect my eyes from the "politicking". Today, I picked up the Star Magazine and read it, and nearly spewed blood. The reason for my reaction is the review on Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer. I confess, I have not read the series and I am not in the position to say anything about the plot or the characterization.

But from what little I've read of it in the bookstore, I can definitely say with confidence that the writing leaves much to be desired for. It's purple and needlessly exclamation-mark-y (yes, I know it's not a word but it's a problem I found common in young adult books. At least the ya books I've read).

I am also not in the position to begrudge anyone of their purple prose entertainment as I had my Anne Rice days (granted, I read them for the gay) but seriously. -_-; Good entertainment doesn't mean it has great writing, refreshingly original plot and good characterization. I'll give Twilight series credit for being entertaining to its target audience and perhaps steering some of them onto the Book Reading Path but good literature, it is not.
