Hurrication!

I could've done useful things yesterday but I didn't. I watched the entire first season of the FX series Damages and then I started watching Captain America, which I finished just now.

I want to talk about Damages but I'm not really sure what to say. I mean damn. I watched an entire season in one day. It was like a freaking thirteen hour long movie. I was expecting something a la Law & Order but no. With Law & Order you can stop anytime you want. By the time I got to the tail end of the season I was screaming at the screen as I pressed the "next episode" button: "WHY IS THIS SO LONG?!!"

It was a huge all-engrossing psychological legal thriller centering around a high-stakes litigator played by Glenn Close and a young lawyer in her employ, played by Rose Byrne. It initially got brownie points just for having strong female protagonists. Glenn Close is an astounding actress and Rose Byrne actually managed to hold her own. Really all the actors and actresses were phenomenal, such that a character didn't need mountains of screen time to be effectively established (always a good thing) and I actually cared about all of them by the time the writers decided to have them killed off. All in all, excellent. A bit of a long haul, but good good story all the same. I'd watch the second season but I'm afraid of what might happen to me.
