Title says it all (not really, but I'm gonna go ahead and say it does anyhow.
It has been a while since I've written, I know that, and I seem to say it every time I write, but I just seem to lose touch with Livejournal....all the time haha. Anyway, I tihnk it is important to mention that I was able to, with help of the wonderful Kelsey, land my dream job. I am Staff Sergeant Cadre for a freshman platoon. It's awesome. I am currently 2nd Squad leader, 3rd Platoon of 4th Company in 3rd Battalions unit. (I know thats a confusing way of putting it) Here's the official designation, underneath 3rd Battalion: 09-4, 3rd PLT, 2nd SQD SQD Leader. So, we (me, the other 3 SSG's, and the Platoon Sergeant) have 44 raw recruits underneath us that we need to shape into physically and mentally fit Cadets.
It's great, I'm trying to model myself a little bit after SSG Collins (now 2LT Collins, USMC) and it seems to be going really well. We have some problem kids, but some good ones too. They all need work of course, but I'm confident we can handle them haha.
I don't think I;ve completely chosen who I can trust with SSG Collins-ish tendencies, if you know what I mean (which you probably don't unless I;ve told you in person, because I haven't put THAT stuff online.)
There's one or two that perhaps I will be able to trust soon, but we'll see how that goes.
Anyhoo, I'm loving this job and I know it'll pan out and give me great opportunities. Already I've been apporoached by Commander (Lieutenant Colonel...whatever) Gardner who said that Im doing a great job, and Ive been told by multiple sources Im one of the best cadre on the hill. This year is great! The kids have actually improved a bit though and made me a tad proud; 3 for 3 and took the winning tug-of-war match at Abare farm. Abotu friggin time!
