[ Is the floor supposed to rock beneath their feet like that? ] Darling, correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't the building we were in rather stationary?

[ Which would mean something is going terrible down here. ]

[ Arthur sends the ceiling a miffed look; this is not a new feeling, but it's been a while since he had to deal with a rotating corridor. All the same, he vaguely remembers letting his body go with the gravity rather than fighting it (or if fighting it, then by latching onto something) so he looks over his shoulder at Eames, shaking his head. ] Preferably.

You might wanna to hold onto something.

Why does that offer only come when the floor's about to give? [ She sends him something quite akin to a pout before her hands curve round the doorway, foot sliding back just a little. ] Bugger.

Sounds correct, or thereabouts.

[ He follows her with her eyes, a mild, humorless smile toying at the corners of his mouth. ]

Are you one I've left off?

Probably. [ She's still smiling, still pacing the small little room, walls flecked with the fading sunshine through the blinds. ] Makes me sound rather like an old suit though.

I can see why they loved working with you.

[ The sarcasm in response to the shifting landscape? Torrents of it.

But it's possible that it's the Somnacin's new additive to blame. Hard to say. ]

It's not like this usually happens!

[ He squints at the meadow that sprouted up in the intersection of the cityscape, shaking his head. ]

Maybe the group link's too strong.

You're not as bad as they said you'd be.

[It's a job that went well - not smoothly, that would be an overstatement, but well enough. He's leaning against a table, rubbing his wrist where the cannula had gone, getting rid of the phantom prickling feeling of the needle.]

And if you're not home he's just going to call your cell, so. ]

[ He picks up just before it goes to voicemail - the ID is checked out of habit, but it's not like anyone else calls the house number first, aside from the occasional telemarketer. ]

You're still the one who uses the house number, huh?

Excuse me.

[ Arthur moves smoothly past the gentleman in front of him to reach the newstand, fingering through a few of the magazines to have on hand during the flight. It's a few hours before his gate even opens - rescheduling out of his control - and he has the time to spare. ]

[Robert Fischer, you know, he's got a way of making it look like the slightest inconvenience is an insurmountably large one. He's already a bit cross to have been kept waiting (a small delay, truth be known), but he hasn't taken a public flight since his father's funeral.

(Money's a bit tighter these days.)

So it's completely in character, from what anyone might remember of him, when he glances up from his smartphone at the invasive hand and steps to the side with an impatient flick of eyes across his face and an exasperated breath that he doesn't quite contain. He returns to his news feed.

He looks back up.]

[ Shit.

Arthur's eyes flick toward Fischer briefly before turning his attention back to the stand. He's pulled enough cons for himself and, admittedly, had a few pointers given by Eames to know any outward reaction would be telling enough. The job might have been some time ago, but the mind is fickle and memory (and how it remembers dreams, no matter whether or not someone is trained) is unpredictable, so Arthur doesn't take his chances with it, steeling down on himself as he plucks one of the magazines randomly, flipping through it. It's a motorcycle one, which isn't to his tastes, but they tend to have longer articles regardless than most others. ]

Hey. [ He holds it up to the vendor, who lists off the price as twelve bucks. At that, Arthur genuinely scowls. ] It's two months old.

[ It's not that Arthur is the type to hurt for money, but it's the principle of it - he's not paying full price for a two month old mag that should have been switched out in the first place. The vendor only grumbles about how this isn't some sort of ( ... )
