What a weekend!

We headed south bright and early Friday morning to visit Phillipe and Julianna for the 4th of July weekend. We knew it was going to be a wild ride, but.....WOW.

Friday evening was deceptively relaxing.

Saturday started with a bang....literally. We went to watch the local rocket club launch their stuff. While it was hot and a lot of hurry-up-and-wait, watching a 1/2 scale Patriot missile go up was pretty exciting. TwinkleToes got some primo pictures.

From there we went shopping. Between Le Creuset and Chico's I did a major bit of damage, but got some great buys. Let me digress here for a moment: Earlier last week I had gone to the local Chico's to check out their sale. Eighty dollars later I was home with $380 worth of clothes. Saturday I went to the Chico's outlet, and spent another $80. This time the retail would have been over $600. Yeah, I bought about $1000 worth of clothes for $160. WIN!

A stop at the grocery store got us the supplies we needed for covered dishes to take to the afternoon gathering. Met some new folk, ate way too much good food, and generally had a good time. Showing the woosie fellows how to shuck oysters was a blast.

Sunday was no slower (or cheaper!) than Saturday had been. Phillipe and I went grocery shopping. Why did I think I needed two hundred pounds of meat????? Of course, some of it is for event stuff, but that does not change the fact that there just isn't that much freezer space at our house. Oh well, the price was right..... The rest of the day was spent cooking and visiting.

Driving home today was thankfully uneventful, and we are sort of geared up for the real world again. Well, maybe not. We're both tired, and there is a lot on the agenda. I really MUST start trying to figure out what I need to do to prepare for Pennsic. I roll out in less than 20 days. GAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!
