With nice weather, we took a walking tour of downtown Huntsville this afternoon.
Went through some historic residential neighborhoods:
And saw some architecture from the past (1800s)
Look between the windows - it's a green ceramic frog. They were all perched in a row up there. The building was designed for them. And Denny sez , you thought LSD was invented in the 60s . But Georgia sezs, Europe may have gargoyles but Huntsville has frogs.
The most famous place was the Erskine Hotel - quite THE place to stay in the early 1900s. It's now a low income housing apartments. We forgot to take pictures of the inside but the ballroom and lobby was beautiful. The ceilings and crown molding were very ornate.
We had a fabulous day doing the walking tour with well informed guides and partaking in a little geocaching.
