Rules: Tell me you want to play and I'll pick up to three of your fandoms. Then update your journal and answer the following questions:
1. What got you into this fandom in the first place?
2. Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?
3. Favorite episodes/books/movies, etc?
4. Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?
5. Do you think more people should get into this fandom?
I told
draycevixen I'd play! So here goes...
Due South
1. What got you into this fandom in the first place?
I was living in Laramie and didn’t have cable TV, in fact I barely had one channel but sometimes when the wind was right I could get a public access channel that showed dueSouth and I fell entirely in love with it.
2. Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?
I will always love this show because Paul Gross is made of pure WIN.
3. Favorite episodes/books/movies, etc?
I love all the episodes that include Paul singing, also the cross dressing one always cheers me up.
4. Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?
I mostly lurk about and read some fanfic once in a while.
5. Do you think more people should get into this fandom?
Absolutely. This show had some fantastic writing and the relationship of Fraser and his father is fabulous, I love so much about this show, but it’s the writing that really hooked me.
MFU
1. What got you into this fandom in the first place?
Oh dear. I watched episodes as a kid on cable at my Granny’s house, then again as a teenager when my mom and I briefly lived in town and had cable TV with reruns galore. I loved both of our boys from the start.
2. Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?
This is likely my most loved TV fandom and I can’t see a time when I will not love the show, the characters, the actors, the whole ball o’ wax.
3. Favorite episodes/books/movies, etc?
So many to choose from! I can watch Iowa Scuba over and over (And have) and Bow Wow over and over (and have) and I am pretty fond of Bridge of Lions. I love so many episodes that it is difficult to choose. There are SO many that are wonderful. *sigh* Strigas is wonderful, so is Fiddlesticks, I love parts of so many and so many more I love entirely. I will never be able to choose.
4. Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?
Dear gods, yes! I write a LOT of fanfic for MFU. A whole frelling boatload of fanfic. And of course there is
mfu_yumdaily which I created for my Cousins. It's nice to share, my mom always says. *grin*
5. Do you think more people should get into this fandom?
Oh, hells yeah! I love to share the joy that is MFU, and the Cousins are the best fans ever.
Star Trek
1. What got you into this fandom in the first place?
When I was very very very little, I used to watch reruns of Star Trek with my dad on Friday nights. I know it was Friday because the next day was Toonie Day. Imagine my shock and surprise when they aired the show on a Thursday and I got up the next morning all ready for Toonies and it was NOT Saturday. I was very disappointed. ((As a small child I really believed that it was all real and I remember confusing my parents by asking how they filmed the explosions outside of the ship. I made my own tricorder and communicator out of little boxes I coloured with crayons and markers. I was very disappointed I couldn‘t get my friends to play Star Trek with me.)) Later on when I was in grade school the TV showed reruns after school and I would hurry home to watch. As an adult when I lived in Laramie, I watched DS9 and loved it.
2. Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?
Star Trek never dies, it just adapts. I will always love it.
3. Favorite episodes/books/movies, etc?
Oh, well… I love the angsty episodes, the time travel one where McCoy falls in love with Joan Collins, the salt monster, like that. In DS9 I love the Tribble Redux, oh man, that was SO WELL DONE! I also read a lot of the TOS books as a kid. My first not-quite-date out of town (in order to see new movies, we had to go to the next town up the highway) was to see the Whales movie, I went with my not-quite-boyfriend and another friend that I crushed on really hard, I was in heaven! TWO almost dates at once AND we were total Trek geeks, it was AWESOME! The movie, well, yeah. My fav movie is likely the first since I was still very young and still very enamored of the whole thing when it came out.
4. Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?
Not even reading fanfic. Star Trek is a fandom I keep very much to myself.
5. Do you think more people should get into this fandom?
I am pretty sure that this is a fandom that is not only self perpetuating, but will never ever die. There will ALWAYS be trekkies.
