Just to let everyone know....
I wanted to let everyone know, and I figured this was the best way to do it...my dad resigned from Carrollton High School today.
It started last week, when he was prefacing his Segregation/Civil Rights with a little speech about why there was segregation and how racial problems are still not resolved today...well a girl took it out of context and told her parents that my dad was being racist. First the parents wrote a letter and met with the principal (they agreed to meet with my dad so he could explain but they haven't yet/ now won't)...then over the weekend there was an NAACP rally in Carrollton and the girl spoke at it about her "racist" teacher/ my dad...so apparently, the school was afraid of a law suit and when my dad went to meet with the principal and superindentent today he said he could tell they were pushing for a resignation
So thats what happened...I was very shocked/upset...I'm feeling better now, but I feel terrible for my dad...he hasn't been able to explain his side, and it seems no one is helping
I hope things will be okay...perhaps this will give him the chance to teach at a small college ot something...but regardless he said he's never teaching in the public school system again
