So what is liberty anyways? I would say its the right to decide how you will live you life and how you use the resources you are able to achieve without violating other peoples liberty. For example having an abortion would be violating another persons liberty ( Read more... )

Hurricane Katrina is a perfect example of what could be. New Orleans is one of the greatest cities on the planet. It is like a country into itself. If we were to cut off government funding completely to the city it would still be rebuilt but this time it will be rebuilt in the image of the people. People would pool their resources to rebuild and they would make the changes that they want to the city so that the city would once again be great. It would take a lot longer and it would require a lot more patience but in the end the city would be stronger then it was before. You might ask "How do you know they will rebuild it?." The answer to that is very simple, if they don't want to rebuild it then it shouldn't be rebuilt. I am sure that the people of New Orleans want the city rebuilt though. The City inspires people to be fiercely loyal to it. Don't let the government subvert that loyalty. Use the loyalty to better the city. Like the song by Flaw goes "Friends will stick by you even when the going gets tough, These are the ones who stick when the times get tough, Get up again."

As for what Milton Friedman said, there is no place on the planet that is completely safe from mother nature. I agree that the people of New Orleans don't have any right to the money that they are getting. After the immidiate relief of the people the government should have stepped out. I only say the immidiate relief of the people because the way the governments set up at the moment there is no private organisation that were prepared to handle this kind of thing. No individual or group of individuals should have the right to tell me that I don't deserve what I earned and then take it. Their need does not produce.

It is not negative to think that you deserve what you earn. It is not negative to not want to be forced to give up what you earn. IT IS negative to think that your not worth what you produce. Don't let the liberals and socialists drive your self esteem down because you believe that what you earn it yours.

Wow Andy really good comment. Definately keep commenting here I totally agree with you. Thanks about the negativity thing too. I really dont think im negative any more. The military, well myself with the militarys help, made me feel really negative and brainless. Now that im I feel like I can learn again without being laughed at by the pricks.

People think the the roosevelt reformations or whatever they were called were a great thing for our society when in all reality they arent. Social Security is a non progressive flat tax that the poor get shanked on because statistically they dont live as long as the rich. In the town that I live in right now during the depression they had brick roads that everymorning these "workers" would flip and then every night they would get flipped back over. Why does the government have to be unproductive? THere is no point to a lot of this crap.
