WARNING: Character Death.

“I’m gay.”

The words seemed to hang in the air, making it tense and uncomfortable. Mr. and Mrs. Kim sat there, just staring at Jaejoong. Hours seemed to fly past as the three stayed silent and still. Regret and fear oozed through Jaejoong’s veins now after them being filled with courage and boldness, things that had conveniently left his body when he needed them.

Why had he listened to Yoochun? His parents never needed to know of his sexuality. He could have easily hidden it. Yoochun is an idiot. He had told him so much about coming out, speeches and stuff like that, but not how to survive this bit. The reaction.

Finally, Mr. Kim moved. He stood up, a cold look in his eyes, his face emotionless. The older man moved towards the younger one and placed his face so their noses were almost touching. His whisper sent chills down Jaejoong’s back.

“Get out.”

Instead, Jaejoong just looked at him, too scared to move.

“WELL GO ON THEN YOU BIG POOF! GET OUT OF MY SIGHT! YOU ARE NOT MY SON ANYMORE!” Pain suddenly erupted through Jaejoong’s cheek, sending him to the floor. His father, the man he was supposed to respect and take after, just hit him. He could hear sobbing and pleading from his mother, but was too much in shock to catch any of the words. He looked up as blood began to drip from his nose. He seemed to shrink as he saw the hatred in his father’s eyes, not wavering even though his mother was clinging to him, begging for him to stop, to reconsider. She didn’t seem to know the man she married. He never changed his mind. Never.

Jaejoong pushed himself up from the cold floor, blinking away the tears. He glared at his father one last time, before he flung himself through the front door, with only his mobile, which was nearly out of charge, his house keys, which wouldn’t be getting a lot of use now and his nearly empty wallet. It was raining hard but he didn’t care. He just ran, not knowing where he was going.

The raindrops attacked his skin, cold and hard, as he ran to the place of Anywhere. He was crying now, crying not from the throbbing of his cheek or the numbness of his skin, but from sorrow and anger. His father should have accepted him. His father should have been there for him. His father was a failure, an unfeeling and heartless creature. But that was all Jaejoong had. Now, he had nothing.

Eventually, his body couldn’t take it. He threw himself down on the ground, not caring who saw. The blood had dripped onto his t-shirt by now, tears combined with rain had blinded him, he was soaked right through, a stitch ripped its way through his side. But who cared?

No one.

No one cared for Jaejoong. And why would they? He was a freak, he was wrong.

“Jaejoong!” He could hear the voice of his angel, or his devil more like. The man who had made him this; alone and unloved. But no matter what he did, Jaejoong couldn’t hate him.

Even if he hated the way he made his heart sing and dance, he couldn’t hate him.

Even if he hated the way he made him smile when he didn’t want to, he couldn’t hate him.

Even if he hated the way he made him shiver slightly every time he touched him, he couldn’t hate him.

It wasn’t his fault anyway. It was Jaejoong’s stupid fault. Everything’s his fault. He curled up into a ball, wishing that his brain would stop imagining things that would just make it worse than it already was.

He heard it again, the cry of an angel in the dark and dismal night. But this time, it seemed closer. This time it was accompanied by the sounds of footsteps in puddles. This time it made him look up and gasp with horror. Time slowed down as he saw his beloved Yunho rushing towards him, not noticing the car that was approaching him, that would hurt him, kill him.

Without thinking, Jaejoong flung himself at Yunho, praying for him to be safe.

Abruptly, he was flying through the air before hitting the ground hard. Agony shot through his frail body, but he didn’t care. He just wanted to know that Yunho was unhurt.

Warm, safe arms wrapped around Jaejoong’s delicate figure in answer.

Yunho was fine. Jaejoong sighed with relief.

“JAEJOONG! JAEJOONG! PLEASE TALK TO ME! PLEASE!”

The blonde just smiled as he leant into his saviour, breathing in his heavenly scent. He didn’t mind dying here in Yunho’s arms. The rain seemed to have stopped now, but it could just be Yunho sheltering him.

“Jaejoong... I-I-I,” Yunho whispered into his ear as he held him so close Jaejoong could feel his uneven breath on his face. Had he died and gone to heaven already?

He began to close his eyes, never once taking them off Yunho’s face, Yunho’s wonderful face. Although he feared a place without Yunho, he had no strength left and would savour these last moments he had. He saw the scars, the scars he so badly wanted to heal as they ruined Yunho’s perfect features, as his eyelids became heavier. He looked into Yunho’s dark brown eyes and saw the tears.

No. Yunho should not be sad. Jaejoong was not worth crying over. But still the angel continued to cry and plead with Jaejoong stay with him. Yunho’s sadness made him sad. His moment of happiness was ruined and all because he was dying. What a stupid reason.

“Yunho,” he breathed; he couldn’t manage more, “Don’t be sad. Please.”

“But you’re dying. I can’t help it.” He smiled slightly, “I can’t believe I’ve waited so long to tell you but I love you Jaejoong, with all of my heart and that’s why you can’t die.”  Joy shot through Jaejoong making him beam through his tears of pain. It caused him more pain but he didn’t care. He didn’t care if Yunho was playing with him, whether he meant it or not, Yunho had just told him he loved him. He needed to tell him now before he lost his chance.

“Yunho, I love you too. I’m sorry.”

“Jaejoong, don’t be sorry. Just stay alive.” And that’s when he kissed him. A sweet touch of his soft lips to Jaejoong’s bloody and rough lips. His first, and probably last, kiss.

It was pure bliss.

And that’s when the darkness came. The darkness that blocked out the flashing blue lights that had just appeared. The darkness that stopped the rain. The darkness that shut off his hearing and made him deaf. The darkness that made the world disappear.

The darkness that took Jaejoong away from Yunho.
