George Michael was packed, ready to go. Funny how he only had two suitcases. A pack rat he was not.

He was sitting on the couch, hands resting on his thighs, thinking of Mary and wondering how she would be after he's gone. He thought good. She was strong and she loved him; she would be fine.

He thought briefly of Joanna and his first sexual ( Read more... )

Mary was also not looking forward to saying good-bye. She was trying to come up with ways to postpone it. "Maybe I should come with you, just to make sure you get settled in," she suggested.

He smiled at her, took her hand in his. "What about the hotel?"

"Gunther can manage without me for a while, as long as no one checks in, and no one criticizes his cooking," said Mary, looking hopeful.

"I would like that, for you to come with me then," he told her, leaning over to kiss her cheek. "It would mean a lot to me, Mary."

"It would mean a lot to me, too," said Mary. "That way I'll know for certain that you aren't completely cut off from Fandom and I can visit you anytime I want." Which, at this point, looked like it would be every single weekend for the next few weeks. Just because Mary was being strong didn't mean she couldn't be needy.

"Do you plan on coming to see me often? I haven't decided yet whether I want to try campus life or live at home. Kind of depend on my dad, you know?"

"I might visit you a lot because I'm really going to miss you," said Mary. "And where ever you end up living is fine with me. If your dad or your roommates have a problem with me, I'm sure I can find a hotel."

"No," he said instantly. "Wherever I am, you will stay with me. Or we can find a hotel and stay there during your visits. I'd almost rather do that to ensure our privacy."

Mary rather liked the assertiveness in George Michael's voice when he said that. "Don't want Dad walking in on us, right?" she giggled.

He grinned, blushing lightly. "No... geeze. Can you imagine?" George Michael practically shuddered. "And then where my dad is there's usually my uncles or Gangee and..." he shuddered again. "Yeah. No. I want you all to myself."

Avoiding George Michael's uncles was a very good idea. "So we'll have to just find a nice hotel where we can escape to on the weekends," said Mary, thinking. "Actually, it might make more financial sense to just buy a vacation home if I'm going to be out there a lot... No, we should probably stick with the hotel for now."

"We could get a nice little place, just for the weekends, with a deck and a barbecue and a white picket fence," said Mary, smiling.

He scratched his neck, grinning. "Whatever you want, Mary," he told her.
