Mary was all set. She had her gifts wrapped, she had her bags packed, and she was wearing a baggy UNLV sweatshirt that completely hid her figure to minimize the chances of getting stared at.

She knocked on the door, then went straight in. "I'm ready to go whenever you are!" she said.

George Michael turned and smiled wide at Mary, especially at her sweatshirt. "Mary! You look great! How was work?" he asked as he approached her, lowering his head just slightly for a kiss.

Mary smiled in return and gave him a brief kiss. "It was pretty quiet today, but at least Gunther found another outlet for his need to decorate," she said.

"Which was?" he asked, reaching for one of her hands to hold.

"He's got this beautiful old-fashioned Christmas tree set up in the lobby," said Mary. "I just hope it gives him even more incentive not to blow up my hotel while I'm gone."

"Oh, nice. I will have to check it out on our way down." A little nervously did he step back from her. "Do you want to exchange gifts now, Mary? Because maybe, uh, you know, you would like to open your gifts without my family, like, watching or anything."

"That sounds like a very good idea," agreed Mary. "You probably don't want to open this in front of them," she added, pulling out a small box with a bow.

George Michael grinned and opened the small box. His grin grew a little shy but he was excited as well. He now had his own key to her room. Things between them were progressing quite nicely.

He leaned down to kiss her. "Thank you, Mary."

"There's a little something extra that you can have fun unwrapping after we get back, but the rest of your present is safe to open in front of your family," said Mary.

Which just had George Michael curious. "Okay, I will try to be patient." He retrieved one box from the bag where he had her gifts. "You have to open this now, everything else will wait until we are with my family."

"Oooh," said Mary, opening the box. "I love it! Thank you," she squealed, leaning in for another kiss.

"It's simple, I know..." he said after he kissed her. "But.. uh, I've just never shopped for a lady before. I mean ladies lingerie." He's never shopped for a lady before period.

"Simple is always good," said Mary. "Thank you for keeping me distracted from missing Danny and my sisters this Christmas."

That surprised him and he looked over at her, his eyes warm, kind. "I'm sorry that it's hard on you, but I'm glad that you are here with me and that we can spend this time together. I promise to keep you even more distracted."

"I appreciate it. And I'm really excited about spending Christmas with you and your family," said Mary. Well, she was happier about spending it with George Michael than with his family.

"Are you? Really? Because I'm kind of iffy on the excited part, Mary. I'm trying though, for you."
