I'm not a big fan of such establishments, myslff, but a friend and I were discussing political conventions at a bar up the street from one a while back, when he got in his occasional mood to see, well, naked women. In the meantime, we couldn't remember who the Democratic Vice-Presidential nominee was in 1972. The convention had famously been held up whilst everybody BUT Edmund Muskie (who just plain didn't know ) consternated over the fact that the VP nominee had undergone shock therapy, among other things. Our constyernationover just who he was continued on into the, er, "gentlemen's club." We even offered every, er, "peeler" who dropped by five dollars if she could tell us the answer, but they to a person answered, "I wasn't even born then!" "But you know who Abraham Lincoln is, right? And you weren't born then, either," came my friend's inevitable response, adding he'd always assumed that strppiers, exotic dancers, whatever, were all grad students and so forth moonlighting to pay for school ...

P.S.--for the record, it was Thomas Eagleton ...
