Police tech

I am driving a 328hp car today, so of course I see the latest police tech up close. But not personal. I am too careful for that, today at least. I expect cops on the Dunbarton Bridge when the traffic is thinning out and it is daylight, so I was doing 62 in a 55 like everyone else including buses and big rigs. As we crested the top I was looking where they park and saw a big rig suddenly brake, way way too late if the cop had been interested. By then he'd have had me and I was probably half a mile behind.

The surprise was what he was using, it looked like a compact pair of binoculars with gold tinted lenses. Pocket sized. I saw them as I passed at 50, still slowing. As I passed he was starting to turn and he pulled someone over a good way behind me, all I saw was the lights.

Improving technology doesn't always make life better. Most fast roads have very few accidents but they are the best revenue source. So cops ticket people on safe roads and ignore the dangerous places where it is hard to ambush people.
