Two times o ver, in fact! The Rise and Fall of Radiation Canary is a finalist in Contemporary General Fiction, and Underdogs: Beware of Wolf is a finalist in Mystery/Thriller! The winners will be announced on December 8, which is one day after my 32nd birthday. I can't think of a better belated birthday present than winning, but having two novels I'm really proud of as finalists is a really good early birthday present. I never understood those people at awards shows who smiled and clapped when someone else's name was called, but now I do. You don't have to be number one, just ascending to the point where you can be considered it pretty darned satisfying. Also congratulations to Adrian Smith, whose first novel FOREVER BURN is also a finalist! Supposed Crimes, making a pretty good showing!

In other news, the fourth Claire Lance novel
CHASING DRAGONS is now available! If you're planning to read The Following Sea, you may want to get to that one before reading this. A few characters from that novel make an appearance here, so if you don't want to be spoiled, Following Sea first. This novel also features an extended set of sequences set on Squire's Isle. I wouldn't call it a "Squire's Isle novel," but it's definitely part of that extended universe.
CHASING DRAGONS: A CLAIRE LANCE NOVEL
Claire Lance is finally ready to settle down. She’s fallen in love again against all odds, the FBI considers her case inactive, and she’s found a place where she thinks she can finally be safe. But Lance’s peace is short-lived as a group of hunters threaten someone close to her and she’s forced to take a stand or see a friend lose the woman she loves.
Meanwhile, unbeknownst to Lance, a cold-blooded killer is closing in on her. Savastian Kedrov is dedicated and brutal, and she isn’t above using force to get what she wants. She’s not with the FBI, and she’s not interested in placing Lance under arrest. With Lance in her sights and unable to cut and run, it’s only a matter of time before the gunfire starts."
