Maybe I'm paranoid, but I'm alive, and if you are a man with a car parked on the side of the road and you happen to come out as a woman is walking by, please stop staring at her back, maybe she is staring at you, she's staring at you because she's wondering if you are going to go after her, so please don't keep staring at her as she walk away. I probably lose a lot of weight from breaking into light jogs and crossing the road - the best first defence a woman has against an opponent with greater strength is distance, like with zombies!
Statistically speaking though, I'm actually quite safe at night, it's peers of peers I shall have to watch for.
As for your mention of Helen's request, at someone who had, at different points in life, Anglican and worse, Baptist upbringing, I get why she ask what she asked. She was lonely, but she would have felt guilty if she consented to company after losing her daughter, she needed to give up responsibility for sin.
I also understand how many women might not have discerned exactly what Helen meant by that, and that John and Nikola are her boys that she trust never to hurt her when given the reins, so yeah, WARNING!
Though at the beginning, it actually sounded worse, I thought the warning was for Abbey and that Nikola had to mercy kill her after she was dying from injuries substained during a rape or something.
