Wow, who'd have thunk it, not wii, that's for sure.

As some of you may know, one of our frivolous life goals has been the owning of a Wii. Through our grad, postdoc, and jobless years, we just couldn't justify the expense. However, now that we have some decent income on our horizon, the temptation to jump the gun by even a month or two and get a Wii ahead of time has loomed over us like Iago whispering unintelligible sinful directives on our shoulder. The urge was made ever so stronger by the fact that we were given a very important Wii game as a present, despite the lack of a Wii (we are ever so grateful for this generous gift!). However, we have been diciplined, not only because it's hard to justify the expense, but also because it's hard to justify the time.

So. While checking my credit card statement online, I decided to check the status of my reward points. I've been with this bank since my college days, and I never paid any attention to the rewards program, because in my experience, you can have a billion points and all that would get you would be a knock-off camera made out of rice paper (just like frequent flyer miles.) Well, it turns out that I have accrued a schload of points in the twelve or so years I've had this card. The first thing I checked was HDTVs, but the point total would only get us a 22 incher, and I'm hoping for at least twice that. "Judge me by my size, do you?" Yes. Yes I do. The next thing I checked was a Wii. Not only do we have enough for a Wii, but we also have points to spare. Unfortunately, although we can afford Rock Band 2, we can't afford the Rock Band 2 Special Edition that comes with all the instruments. But hey, that comes later. Long story short, we have a Wii on its way, at no expense to us, not even shipping. It will meet us at a time and place in the near future where and when we'll actually have some time to play with it before we move.
