The current volcanic eruption in Iceland has meant that a huge cloud of ash is drifting south towards Britain.
The pictures are very dramatic, and this set me to wonder.
in the Bible , we are told that the Israelites left Egypt and followed a pillar of fire by night and a pillar of smoke by day.
When they arrrived at mount Sinai, it says that the mountain shook, and there was a booming sound like thunder as Moses went up the mountain and spoke with God. ( Exodus 19 ; 18-20 are the verses to read.
I am wondering - was this an active volcano at about 1500 BC? could it be that an active volcano was what Moses took his people to?
