Stolen from questofdreams

Post eight of your favorite lines from fanfiction by your favorite writers. Don't tell anyone who the writer or what the url is. If anyone is able to pinpoint which fic it is and they're correct, then you have to put the url up. [using google is cheating, of course, but we can't tell]. Blah blah I'm just gonna post it. Also these are more favorite scenes than lines but whatever.

-Inuyasha-

1.No One At The Wheel by a_hollow_year

They never talk about it, the falling, the blood-filled well, the echo of that haunting, spidery laugh, the sound of shouting and snarling that followed them, the last fleeting moment in warm, red-clad arms -

(Sesshoumaru almost never yelled, but he had yelled then, and for once Inuyasha had listened. It was Sesshoumaru that bought the time, and Inuyasha who spent it wisely, and now Kagome and Rin had nothing but time, nothing but time to question the memories, nothing but time to make excuses, nothing but time to wait and wait and wait until their past caught up with their future, which had already happened.)

2. Zero G by Rozefire

Kagome stopped a moment to acknowledge the injury she’d inflicted, but then she came at him again without restraint. This time, Inuyasha was quicker. He caught her wrist and sent her flying backwards with one hard push. He hadn’t meant to do it so forcefully, but her silent aggression scared him, and he was finding it difficult to control his strength. The rock dropped from Kagome’s hand as she skidded across the room until the wall stopped her, but no small groan of pain or gasp of protest ever escaped her lips. She simply crouched beneath the window with her forehead pressed to the carpet, her whole body shuddering with each jarred breath she took.

Closing his eyes, Inuyasha made a silent prayer to anyone listening. He’d screwed up spectacularly… and he could only see one way to fix it.

“I never should have saved you,” he told the quivering girl. “And I regret it… but I’m glad as well.”

“I don’t care,” Kagome said weakly, refusing to lift her head. “Whatever you’re going to do, please just do it. I don’t care anymore.”

3. Bottled Genius by Rozefire

Kagome smiled and leant forward to place a soft kiss on his lips. “Thank you.”

Inuyasha frowned slightly as they drew apart. “For what?”

“For ‘Happily ever after’.” She sighed a contented sigh as she glanced towards the stack of homework given to her by Hojo. “Or close enough.”

“You know, you still had one wish left that you didn’t use.” Inuyasha told her. “If you still had it, what would you wish for?”

“Um… Kagome tapped her chin thoughtfully, then grinned. “I’d wish that we were together… forever.”

Easily granted. Inuyasha smirked and planted a kiss on her lips. One of many that were to come. “As you wish.”

4.Rebound by Kristine Batey

"There was a boy in my school who said he loved me. I went ou-ou-out with h-him on the rebound."

Inuyasha frowned. "Ribaundo," he said, repeating the Japlish, "I don’t know that word…"

She considered, took a breath. "Rebound. Like a ball bouncing. I hit, I bounced, he caught me."

-South Park- (I know what you're thinking...)

5. Life is Better Under a Totalitarian Regime by seaouryou

“There!” Stan said, wheeling around and jabbing a finger at his chest. “Right there! That’s the entire problem right there!”

Kyle arched an eyebrow, looking generally baffled.

“Why doesn’t this bother you?” Stan cried, seizing the front of Kyle’s shirt in his hands and dragging him up to his knees. “WHY?”

Kyle sighed and shifted so that he wasn’t kneeling on the Monopoly board. Then he reached up, griped Stan by the back of the neck, gave him a somewhat apologetic look, and pulled Stan down to where he was. And then he was kissing him.

What struck Stan first was that kissing Kyle was entirely unlike kissing a girl. Not bad, not even particularly weird, just completely different. Like Kyle didn’t have long nails that dug into his scalp. And he hadn’t heavily applied liquid plastic to his lips so there was no mess, just skin. And he didn’t smell like anything weird, like some fake fruit scented shampoo combination like mango and passion fruit or banana and pomegranate. He just smelled like a person.

And it was nice. Preferable, even.

-Death Note-

6. Phlegethon River by Nilahxapiel

But not all of it was resentful. Sometimes it was softer, more polite and not angry. Sometimes the sex grew so slow and sensual that it moved farther away from ‘fucking’ and closer and closer to ‘lovemaking’. When the sex wasn’t rancorous, when neither had done anything to deserve a punishment, the sex was used as not a release of frustration, but as a tool of forgiveness.

In these times, no words would be spoken. Because neither could say truly ‘I forgive you’ if the other had not apologized, which neither of them were planning on doing. So instead they just held tight to one another and moved sweaty bodies against each other, entering, breaching, letting out grunts and choked whimpers.

For L, it was Raito saying ‘I’m sorry for being Kira’ and he was saying ‘I forgive you’.

For Raito, it was L saying ‘I’m sorry for thinking you’re Kira’ and he was saying in return ‘I forgive you’.

7. True Elision by Ezan

But instead of the street, floating right in front of him, was Ryuuzaki’s face.

He could have sworn his heart suddenly stopped, then started a double beat. His eyes widened, his fingers becoming lax around the squeezed fruit. But even so, he retained his dignity and managed not to take a step back. He started gritting his teeth again - his new favourite gesture, apparently - while trying to keep Ryuuzaki from noticing how nervous he was.

L. to his credit, didn’t move at all. He didn’t even blink - it was as though he was a statue. The real...Ryuuzaki. And now there was no question...Raito was certain that this was the real man, not a hallucination or a simulacrum. It was obvious by the way L’s eyes were fixed on him. Only the real detective had the power to enforce his stare with that kind of... relentlessness.

-Bleach-

8. The Definition of Betrayal by Aleia15

She filled her twentieth glass remembering his words on that last night.

"Will you follow me wherever I go, Rangiku? I'll be waiting for you."

And her answer, not yet knowing what he was asking her to do. "Always."

She took the cup to her lips with shaky hands, realizing how she had lied to Gin for the first time without even knowing.

Her last thought before passing out was the she was the real traitor on their relationship.
