Breaking campaign: Geoffrey Rush fronts UNICEF and Qantas appeal

Australian actor Geoffrey Rush is to star in a new ad for UNICEF called Change for Good, written by direct marketing agency MercerBell and to be screened on all Qantas flights.

The 90- second TVC is designed to encourage travellers to leave any loose change and unused foreign coins in the UNICEF envelopes on board.

Rush, who has been UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador since 1997, appears in the ad sat in an airline seat. A women who sits next to him spills the trinkets and gifts she has bought at the airport on to Rush’s lap. As she does so, Rush explains she could have donated the loose change she used to buy the small gifts to UNICEF, helping to provide things such as fresh water to children in under developed countries.

“Everyone who boards a Qantas flight has the chance to help create a better life for some of the world’s most disadvantaged children,” he says. “All it takes is some loose change.”

This is the latest in a series of brand, digital and direct marketing campaigns created by MercerBell for UNICEF Australia.

I must admit i don't agree with the clip.
It looks like she's made to feel bad for buying gifts and i think that's wrong.
It's not a bad thing people like to buy gifts, any gifts and just because she did doesn't mean she didn't or wouldn't donate too.
Just my feeling but i do agree with him that it's a good idea to donate left over coins, many end up in the cubboard or drawer never to be used again.
