http://www.livejournal.com/users/doyourworst/82935.html This is a pretty good yarn that I got going on this other dude's journal. Too bad dude has become a bit of a baby and blocked me from replying to his entries anymore, there's a true sign of maturity. I will respond to his last "kiss off" post here.
Him:
"okay dude, bottom line...
i don't give a fuck about your PC-ness. listen to all the stupid youth crew records you want. don't go questioning my sexuality ok. i am the one coming home to an incredibly gorgeous girlfriend, however you are the one sitting online arguing gay rights. you might want to think about that.
and another thing, i was making a point in my original live journal post. the point was taken by everyone except you. you however mean nothing to me, therefore i am done debating with you about this shit. don't go fucking calling me ignorant when you are the one thinking you are better than everyone. just because someone doesn't agree with your youth of today ideals doesn't make them wrong or ignorant. not acknowledging others rights to their opinions and beliefs however, does.
so basically geoff, i don't know you, i don't care to, i don't give a fuck about you or what you think it right. you mean nothing to me, so keep all your stupid preaching within the walls of sit and spin. because outside of your circle of PC friends, no one wants to hear it. and with that, i am blocking you from replying in my journal because i don't want to hear your shit anymore.
later holmes. =)"
I think this could be the first time I've ever been called PC in my life! It may shock you to know that I don't listen to youth crew hardcore very often and that I despise most youth crew bands with the exception of three or four of the classics who might get the occasional play on my stereo. I have a beautiful girlfriend and I'm getting paid to respond to you, so you might want to think about that, chip. Nowhere did we discuss gay rights, we simply argued the merits of a straight pride parade.
I understand your point you made in your post and I assume that it was a bit tongue-in-cheek. I wasn't going to respond to it until I saw what you wrote to the actual homosexual who replied in your journal. I'm glad I mean nothing to you because you mean nothing to me and I was never trying to mean anything to you, to get intimate with you on some level, which, perhaps, you may in your severe homophobia, crave deep down. But I will stop questioning your sexuality if it makes you uncomfortable. It is entirely unwarranted but in general, the greatest weapon against any -phobe is to implicate that the person is a -phile, that they actually embody what they hate and hate their unwillingness to accept their own self. I will stop with the psychology. By the way, this is not a who is a better human being contest, so when I quarrel with you, it is not to demonstrate my prowess as best oxygen breather but to engender a rousing debate about the subject at hand. I didn't know I had YOT ideals (who am I, Nick Baran?), I'm just a person who believes that everyone has a right to do as they please, be it homosexuality or philately or gardening or whatever. What's ignorant is using words like "gay" and "nigga" when other, choice words are available in the lexicon to describe people and things. Compound that with absolute intolerance for homosexuality and I think we can call that ignorance. Just because others do not live as you choose does not give you the right to tell them that how they live is wrong. That, is ignorance.
You can say whatever the hell you please but don't be surprised if some people disagree with you. To paraphrase Voltaire, I will defend your right to free speech with my life even though I may disagree with what you say.
I'm glad that you don't care to know me because you don't seem like a person I want to know. I will continue to hold mass and dispel my gospel of good will toward all men within the safe confines of Sit and Spin. Blocking me from replying in your journal is very immature and further details YOUR intolerance of other people's opinions, a dialectic that you, yourself say is ignorant.
That said, I will end our business and you and your friends may get back to calling me "fag" behind my back.
Thanks,
Geoff.
