Optimism Is A Guarunteed Let Down

Aug 12, 2005 21:27

I've met many people in my 14 years of living, and I've reached one generalization. People are selfish, indecenet, shallow, narrow-minded creatures who don't have one cell full of empathy in them. And, if you disagree, which, I'm almost sure that you do, then i congratulate you, because you've reached a level of optimism which I could not obtain if my life depended on it. It also means that you've met the right people and made the right decisions to come to such a conclusion. But, my dear optimist, double check to make sure you can see the world from the right angle. Are you the ant or are you the bird? To obtain a birds eye is to turn a blizzard to a breeze. Of course, you could never be sure if you are seeing from the right angle, now could you.

Blast. I'm rambling.

And I've been thinking. The people you get along with are the people that you share the same narrow minded views with. Realistically speaking, you, and for that matter, any other person, cannot get a long with everybody. We are not paralell lines. Sooner or later you're going to cross with someone. Whether its from your personal views or some other source. Why? Empathy. People don't have a shred of empathy in them.

Empathy-Noun. Identification with and understanding of another's situation, feelings, and motives.

I don't believe that its a natural thing for a person to identify with a person who's belief crosses with their own. If they did, they'd have to force themselves to.

Me? I'm obviously a pessimist. Why do I choose pessimism? Because optimism is a guarunteed let down. With pessimism, you can only get the best results.

Blast. I'm still rambling.

I'm sorry for the long, serious, over-thought entry.

Love,

The Pessimist
