Departure (03/02/06)

Mar 02, 2006 09:06

In the end there wasn't much to pack, mostly just the things he'd brought with him. A few extra books, gifts mainly, that he'd have to make sure to keep hidden -- because really, the fourteenth century was probably not ready for Sylvia Plath. A pocket watch and a ring, a set of metal-tipped quills, and his journals of course. A bottle of scotch and ( Read more... )

She got the message straight after Sociology and just ran, as fast as she could to the causeway, yes she could have just orbed, but she knew Geoff wasn't such a big a fan of magic, and she'd been hoping that few minutes to would take her to reach him would give her time to think of what to say to him.

She got there just as he'd started crossing to the mainline and just stood for a moment breathing heavily, trying to get her breath back.

"Geoff, wait!" she called to him

Hearing Paige's shout, Geoff stopped and turned, waiting for her to catch up.

"Paige," he said, with a small smile. "You got my call, then."

She nods, "I thought I was gonna miss you, glad I didn't." she says.

Then reaches inside her bag, "I got a couple of things for you, to-to remember me by, until I worked out a way to come visit."

"Thank you, Paige. That's...really nice of you. Although I have no doubt I'll remember you even without something to remind me."

He smiled as Cash bumped his head against Paige's leg, hoping for attention.

She bites her lip and smiles up at him, "that's sweet of you to say," she replies reaching down to pat Cash's head.

"I'll miss you too boy," she tells him before handing a pendant and a roll of parchment to Geoff.

"Hope you like them." she says and look, she's not crying.

Geoff slipped the pendant into his pocket (he'd put it on watch fob later) and carefully put the parchment inside his journal for safekeeping.

"This is wonderful work, Paige. Thank you." Setting down his pack for a moment, he pulled her into a tight hug. "Promise me that you'll be careful, and keep an eye on your sisters. They're going to need you, I think."

"I asked Phoebe to help me cast a little protection spell on the pendant, it's not that I think you can't loo after yourself, it's just well I did promise Dr House didn't I?"

She returned the hug holding onto him as tightly as she can, thinking maybe she doesn't let he'll just have to stay right? But she knows that won't work and finally pulls away just slightly, this time there are tears in her eyes "glad you like it, I've been working on it for a while, I wasn't sure it'd be finished in time." she says swallowing hard.

She nods, "I'll be as careful as you can be in this place, and well considering what I am and as for my sisters, well I think we've worked all that out now, so yeah I'll make sure we all stick together, and I think I'm probably gonna need them myself," after you're gone

Geoff grinned as Paige pulls away, and touched his hand to his pocket. "That was really good of you. I'll probably need it -- as a rule I don't have the best luck in the world."

He gave her a very light kiss, and nodded. "I know you have some difficult things ahead of you. Keep your friends as close as you can, and don't be afraid to ask for help. You can handle it, Paige, I have no doubts about that."

The tears in her eyes were obvious, and Geoff shouldered his pack, figuring a quick goodbye would be better in the long run, for both of them. "I'm glad you came to see me off," he said. "I really am. Greg and I decided that we weren't going to say goodbye, but godspeed instead. Because you never know when we might run into each other again. So godspeed, Paige, and thank you. For everything."

And she really wishes he hadn't kissed her, even though that was pretty much all she thought she wanted right now, because she knows it doesn't mean what she hopes it does. And there is no point in her saying the words now, cos what's it going to change? Nothing. So she doesn't tell him she loves him she just keeps it to herself.

"Sure I'm a tough cookie, if I can handle this I'm sure I can handle anything," she says with a smile, even though the tears are running down her cheek now, she actually thought she'd run out of tears, but apparently not.

"I hope I will see you again Geoff, more than anything, but til I can come make sure you're behaving yourself I guess I'll just have to trust you will huh?"

She takes a deep breath and wipes away the tears and smiles for him, because if she can't get back to him one day she doesn't want him to remember her crying, she wants him to think of her as being happy like she was when they were together, "godspeed, Geoff and thank you too, you...you saved me." she says and she really believes that

"Godspeed, Paige", he said again. Giving one final quick look back toward the town, he picked up Cash's leash and smiled reassuringly at Paige.

Then he took a deep breath and turned away, setting his feet on the road to the mainland.

She just stood and watched him leave only he was only a spot in the distance, then she just turned back and walked into the main part of the town, she really had no idea what to do now, but at least she wasn't crying.

But then she wasn't really sure she could feel anything at this moment, it was probably for the best.

((OMG I'll miss you and think about what I suggested won't you ;) ))

Geoff didn't get very far down the main road after he left the causeway when he realized that the shape of the countryside on the horizon was beginning to look a little too familiar. Bowing his head for a moment in defeat, he shook his head and then bent down to crouch next to Cash, dropping his pack to the ground.

"This is where you and I part ways, my friend." He unfastened the leash from Cash's collar and ran his hands over the dog's head, scratching his ears. "Go find him, Cash. Go find Greg."

He stood up, pointing down the road, and repeated in an encouraging voice, "Go on, go find Greg."

The dog barked once, wagging his tail and squirming in place, and then he turned and ran off across the grassy field abutting the road. "Good luck," Geoff whispered.

Picking up his pack once more, and wiping his hand across his face, Geoff turned his attention back to his destination and began walking down the road toward London.

[ooc: *hugs* I'll miss you too! And I'll keep in mind, I promise. :)]
