Jill turned in a swirl of dark silk and looked at her fiancée with a raised eyebrow. “Come on, love, we need to go soon.”
“Abby won’t mind if I come in casual clothes. She’s a casual person.”
“Gwen, it’s her wedding.”
The other woman opened her mouth to reply then closed it again quickly. She glanced at the green item thrown over the back of the chair and back at Jill.
“I don’t want to wear it.”
Jill turned to the window to hide her fond smile and let her voice take on a mournful quality. “I guess this means you won’t dress up for our wedding, either. Here I was, hoping for two blushing brides...”
“Oh. I didn’t know you felt that way,” Gwen said, crossing to Jill and resting her head on her shoulder.
“It just would have been nice, you know?”
“I suppose - just for now and when we get married - that it can’t hurt to wear a dress.”
“It can’t hurt at all,” Jill pecked her on the lips and moved towards the previously offending item of clothing. “Allons-y!” she grinned.
