I started taking Olive Leaf Extract a few days ago. I was reading about parasites and saw some believable statistics on how 84% of Americans (in the US) have parasites. Given how much traveling I do, I figured it wouldn't hurt to see if I had any. Or at least take stuff to try to kill them. While I was tempted (and grossed out) by THIS site, I decided NOT to try the $150 dollar remedy at first.

So I went to Whole Foods, and asked for advice on killing parasites, and was told 'Olive Leaf Extract'. While I was looking around at all the other stuff (not being an herbalist, I was a little overwhelmed) and got a testimonial from someone else who takes olive leaf regularly. So I figured I would give it a try. It was only $8. (which I probably would have found very expensive had I not seen the $150 cleaning solution on the web).

The first two days I took only 1 pill/day, and felt pretty normal, the only thing I noticed was my stool wasn't as loose as normal, but I'm not sure if part of me was freaked out expecting to see tape-worm parts or something. I also got a cold sore, and I can't remember the last time I got one of those (years?). Yesterday I took 3 pills, one in the morning with little effect, and then 2 before I went out. Within a few hours of taking 2 I was feeling sick - like allergies. All night I was itchy, my eyes running, I felt feverish, etc. And felt like I wanted to be sick. This is to be expected if things are being killed and released into my body. Today I feel better than I have in days. Drinking lots of lemon water, feeling very thirsty for it.

I've been doing reading on Olive Leaf Extract, very interesting. Apparently Hungary is using it as a primary infectious agent, before prescribing antibiotics. (In countries with socialized medicine you can do these reasonable things). I'm going to continue to take it for a while, and see what happens. Perhaps my allergies will go away.
