Long time no post. Some major things have happened in the last couple of weeks:
1) I started working at the bar again (same place, different location)
2) I went to California on a 6 day adventure
3) I got a new roommate
4) I started going to a small group through my church
5) I cut my hair (It's not short...don't worry)
I have some cool pictures to post from my California trip but I don't really know how to anymore since I deactivated my facebook account. Does anyone know of any other (free) ways I can do this? Yahoo photos doesn't work.
So working at the bar has been so far a positive and negative experience. Negative only because I am tired and my feet hurt. Other than that, it hasn't been so bad. I was worried that being back there would depress me but the change of environment really made a difference. The people I work with are nice and pretty laid back. The last place was so much bigger that there were a lot more crazy people working there as well. So far I've only noticed a couple here :)
It's nice to know that I can still interact with people socially as well as professionally. It's incredible that this is technically a JOB but it is nothing like the job I currently hold. It's a refreshment if anything. I feel like I've grown up a whole lot in the last year, if only in the way that I can compare myself in this new position. I guess real-world experience is a real thing! Exposing yourself to challenges and becoming better at a job really does prepare you for the next step. At least it's supposed to.
California was wonderful! I have decided that in my next pursuit I must live within 30 minutes driving distance from the mountains. It's pretty much as important as my job description and salary range. My poor mountain bike has just been sitting outside of my house rusting for the most part and only being used for the occasional ride to the metro. That's just shameful. California helped me to relax and at the same time it motivated me to do all the things I've been wanting to do. Mostly personal things. I really will try to get pictures on here eventually...
So one of my roommates moved out to be closer to her job and then we got Beckster. She's a cool chick from Indiana that decided to go to Hawaii Pacific University and is now studying Forensics at George Washington. She also works with me at the bar. I have truly enjoyed getting to know her. She's very laid back and still motivated. She doesn't seem to stress out hardly at all. She's just a really nice fit for the house. I'm glad we have her.
My small group is really cool. It's a pretty random mix of about 7 people. 3 of which went to Yale and they are some of the nicest people I know. Only 1 other person has a job like mine. The rest work for different departments and law firms. The age range is about 23-30. It's been so long since I've been in a small group/bible study. It hit me that I haven't prayed out loud in public in about 2 years. That's a long time! Considering that I used to always be one of the ones to contribute to group prayers. I still haven't yet in this group.. but I know it's bound to happen. My outlook is so different now but I think it's pure. I'm just waiting on God at this point.
I cut my hair... no big deal but peaople always come back and say to me "why didn't you tell me that you cut your hair?!?!!". By people I mean girls... I'm not sure why we do this. It's pretty much just medium length. Not a huge difference but it was getting reeeaaalllyy long.
Just a random update. Figured you all deserved one at some point. Hope everyone's doing well!
