THIS POST IS FOR ICON MAKERS AND PEOPLE WHO SIMPLY SNAG ICONS!
I thought the name seemed appropriate, as this post is all about informing internet users (on LJ, GJ, Xanga, MySpace, etc.) on how to properly use icons that they themselves did not make. It's also for icon makers to read, especially if you're new to the icon making world.

Crediting, most importantly, is so that the people who see the icons can find out who made them.
To throw in my 2¢, that's really the only reason why it's important to me. It annoys the heck out of me when I see someone using an icon that I like, but then when I go to their icon list to see who made it, they haven't credited. It's not all about giving credit because the icon maker spent time and effort to make the icon (even though there is that, it's not like it's an absolutely ~*mInD-bLoWiNg*~ artistic achievement, let's admit it), it's about giving other people the opportunity to find more icons they like. *shrugs*

I actually have a good understanding of what you said. I really do, that makes a lot of sense. That happens to me all the time. I find an icon and try to find the maker but there's no credit or whatever. Blah. XP
