Yuletide letter 2010 ♥

Dear Yule Goat,

Thank you for offering to write something for me! There's no better Christmas present than fic. To make your life easier, I've written something about my likes/dislikes in fic in general and a little something about these particular fandoms. You can also find some of my fic at my journal. I haven’t written anything I couldn’t handle reading, so it may be helpful.

Likes.
- Slash of any rating. It’s what I like to read and write, but gen’s okay too if you feel uncomfortable with slash.
- Feels weird saying that I like incest, but with certain pairings… it just works.
- Violence, swordfights.
(- Dubcon/non-con is fine if I've prompted something like that.)
- Porn is fiiine, especially if there's a bit of a plot or an idea, even better with well-written characters. Just sayin'... But seriously, what matters is the quality of the writing and not the rating.

Dislikes.
- (Main) character death.
- Total hopelessness/pointless angst. Happy endings are nice… but the definition of happy can be as twisted as you'd like.
- Watersports, mpreg.
- Cliched romantic stuff, especially when out of character. Well-handled, believable romance on the other hand is good and great and will get you cookies.

Fandom specific.

Legend of the Seeker: Richard struck me as submissive from the beginning. But he's also bloody stupid and heroic and defiant, and I love him for that. Defiant!Richard with the huge, pretty eyes? Do want.

Tigana: I see Baerd and Alessan's relationship above all as all-encompassing friendship/brotherhood. Finding the right tone is important - I love the incredible sorrow of the book, with a tiny bit of hope and wonder left.

The Lions of Al-Rassan: Again, the tone. I've read some fics about Ammar and Rodrigo, but none that felt quite right. I've also noticed a tendency to write Rodrigo as the top. I have absolutely nothing against that, but some variation's always nice. With these two it's definitely about equality, similarity, perhaps even a bit of a power struggle.

If you don't write slash, you could always tweak my prompts (a non-sexual take of the Legend of the Seeker prompt would actually be pretty interesting) if you don't want to come up with something totally different.

I know I made some pretty specific requests, but they are only suggestions and examples of the kinds of things I like in fic. Remember: optional details are optional, so feel free to follow your muse. I'd much rather read a piece you wanted to write than something forced.

But because I do have a couple of insanely happy-making prompts in mind for these fandoms, let's have them under the cut.

Legend of the Seeker
Darken Rahl/Richard: “Denna failed to break Richard. What she never realized is that Richard WANTS to be broken. Darken Rahl sees that in him.” I'd love to read something dark and sexy about those two. Submissive Richard (but not without a bite). Porn would be nice, but the submissiveness could show in other ways as well.

Tigana
Alessan/Baerd: Trust, sharing sorrows, finding (the possibility of) joy. Set sometime before they meet Catriana, when they are travelling the country together. I've always imagined them taking comfort in each other. Maybe something about Baerd indulging Alessan's passion for music?

The Lions of Al-Rassan
Ammar/Rodrigo: We're told repeatedly that Rodrigo's wife would kill him if he had another woman. Men are never mentioned. Ammar/Rodrigo was teasingly hinted at, now I want to read it. The premise doesn't really matter. I loved them fighting perfectly together, and their similarity.

That is all, I think.

Allons-y! ♥
