I hope that when I start getting those somewhat unrecoverable things that I can approach them with the humor and good grace that my Grandmother does.
She is 77 years old and she's had surgeries on her back, ankle, knees and feet plus a full mastectomy of both breasts and removal of all the lymph nodes in the upper chest area. She's had some things replaced in those surgeries, and has the special fake-boob bra thing made for women who've had mastectomies that she wears when she dresses up.
She's fond of saying "Getting old is no problem. If anything stops working, I just have it removed or replaced" and then she laughs.
And she's doubly fond of saying "Well, I have the breasts of an 18 year old. I just take them off at night and keep them in my nightstand."
I'm glad you said so; perhaps I'm just too sleep-deprived to be doing complicated things like reading people's LiveJournals, but I totally failed to see it that way. It's better, though, that I do; it nicely cancels out the goth mortality-contemplation bit.
Still I have to say, GL, that you're slacking a bit on the second half of your name there.
