Wow! That's a serious issue- time and memory altering data deletion? Someone really doesn't want us talking about this....
I don't know if you've heard through your research, but the legends where I'm from tell of said mysterious person having a sort of traveling companion with him, typically humanoid and female, though not always, and they help him with whatever he's doing. There's far more than twelve that have supposedly been sighted entering the dark aquatically colored three dimensional rectangle (If you can't tell, I'm doing everything I can to avoid using phrases that might trip the sensors of whoever's behind the cover up), along with the subject of your research.
There are also rumors that he showed up on Messaline, roundabout 6000 on the New Byzantine calendar. This incident only came to light because of the fables surrounding the foundation of the colony - telling of a man who stopped a violent war along with a ginger haired compatriot, and a girl, who died when shot by a colonist. the man we are concerned with took up the colonist's weapon and with the killer at his mercy, refused to kill him. It's the root of the entire planet's cultural being. What really made this story interesting though, was that after the man and his friend(s? a possible second one is mentioned by the hath) departed in a mysterious container of a color between green and purple on the classical color wheel, the dead girl woke up, taking off into the stars never to be seen on-planet again. The man in question wore a long coat and had some sort of technological proficiency, managing to single-handedly terraform the planet. At least, so the stories say.

Bless you, my friend. Your circumlocution is excellent, and I can follow quite well. There doesn't seem to be any time or memory alteration this time around, as each of us are responding almost instantly to each other. But thank you so much for your careful and cautious descriptions.

I will have to do more research into Messaline. What you describe fits in with the kind of things the person in question might do. Thank you for this new lead!
