*Puts on a deer-stalker hat, lights a pipe and heads out to investigate the Strange and Mysterious Pummeling of Gwindor.*
*Has left the afore-mentioned Pummled Gwindor in the capable hands of her handmaidens in Lorien.*
Probably having the time of his life...

Ah, Estë. Hello. How nice that some of you know how to make a polite entrance.

It was your baby he "rescued" wasn't it? I know there's probably more to it than his side of the story, I've seen creatures lying on their backs at the bottom of ponds with more social skills and perception than Gwindor.

Dammit, Fingolfin, you could have killed him! I take it your son is unharmed?

Outwardly. So it appears, anyway. *glowers*

Was that by design or by accident? Besides, there's a world of difference between "removing your son from harm's way" and "removing your son and throwing in a potentially fatal beating while you're at it." That wasn't reasonable force.

Hmmm. *glowers right back.*

Of course it wasn't reasonable. And you'd be hard-pressed to find a father who wouldn't have done the same irrational thing in my place.

No. I'm not a consequentialist.
Maybe you're right that any father would have done the same. It might be understandable but that still doesn't make it right.
You know I can't let this slide, your brother was exiled for less. But...I may be able to arrange something less drastic because I accept that there were extenuating circumstances and other factors to consider.
