He should’ve been more freaked out about being (basically) nothing more than a walking key for the expedition-should’ve been, but at the time he was mostly trying to pretend this didn’t suddenly mean his mom was an alien.

And now, when he’s alone in the city (his city) and no one can hear, he tells Atlantis she’s ( Read more... )

Oh, oh, oh! This makes me glow on the inside (even after revisiting it for the fourth time), and is a lovely pick-me-up on these rainy Annapolis days.

I have such an Atlantischild!John fixation, it's not even funny. I'm not even sure where the idea comes from in canon, aside from John's super-strong ATA gene. But fandom has run so far and in so many directions with this thought, I'm not sure it even matters any more.

I think the Atlantischild!John thing was an awesome premise that was hugely neglected by the writers of the show. In the pilot, we're shown/told that John's got this super-strong ATA gene, but then the writers never really did anything more with it except when it was handy for getting the team into/out of a sticky spot. Which is too bad, because there's all kinds of cool/creepy implications and ramifications.

(...Which is, sadly, true for a lot of stuff on the show.)

In this, as in a fair number of other things, I've been pretty strongly influenced by the lovely miss_porcupine.

Thanks! I must admit, the John who's set up shop in my head isn't exactly the same character that was on the show--but he's much more fun to write. :P

This is sweet - but yeah, John, don't ever let anyone overhear that stuff - not because it's wrong for a city but right for a person, though. Said to a person, it would be really, really wrong. Heh.
