I have one fic that is finished but in need of editing and ~eight in varying stages of completeness. I don't think I'll be able to finish them. There's a chance I could finish one, since it's already 3k+ (if I get RL stuff done first!).
Excerpt from Fic 1: Swimming with Jared was always borderline terrifying, with him rocketing her around and twining around her legs and generally being an overexcited puppy about the whole thing. It was one thing when they were by the beach and another when the ocean floor was miles below Gen's toes.
Jared started to look crestfallen.
“It's kinda cold,” Gen said quickly. “And it's harder to eat s'mores in the ocean. Did I mention that I brought stuff for s'mores? It's not as good without a fire, but I think you'll still like them.”
“It's great to see you again.” Jared smiled again, a little softer.
Excerpt from Fic 2: Misha's hands clenched into fists, seemingly against his will. He shook his wrists to no avail, and then put his hands in his lap. “I don't suppose you have straws?”
Gen did keep straws, because some of her customers didn't have hands at all. She was inclined to refuse him, but Misha was pathetic enough; she didn't need to see him nose his glass. She dug a bendy plastic tube from the bag she'd stashed on top of the safe and plopped it in Misha's drink. “How long have you had those hands?”
Misha made a face. “Eighteen months.”
She was surprised; they seemed so old fashioned. “I didn't know they still did mechanicals like that.”
“They're an older model. The newer are more agile, but also more painful, because of the way they hook them into your nerves. I would've taken the pain, which is, of course, why I didn't get the opportunity.”
