Prompt Week?

Jan 19, 2014 21:10

Last year we had an Open Posting Week in which anyone in the comm could post meta, rec lists, picspams, etc. There wasn't an overabundance of participation, so this year we’re thinking instead of holding a prompt week that would be a little more structured. There would be one prompt per day, and anyone could respond to the entry with comment!fic, art, or recs to existing work that the prompt reminds them of. The content rules ( writers, artists) would be the same as for everything else- must focus on Ruby 2.0 or Genevieve, obviously, no real life underage persons, including her sons, etc.

The prompts would be very broad to allow for lots of flexibility. For example, “Space” might be a prompt, and responses could involve anything reasonably related (e.g., aliens!), including crossovers with related canons. For example, responses to “Space” could include:

-Gen stars in a coffee shop AU in space!
-Ruby makes first contact with aliens on earth!
-Gen is the new half-human, half-Vulcan science officer on the Enterprise, trying to reconcile her conflicting heritages and adjust to her new captain, the infuriating and brash Misha Collins
-Ruby is an Alliance spy, sent to pose as a companion and infiltrate Serenity to learn all of the infamous Captain Winchester’s secrets

We’re thinking the prompt week would be either the week of February 17th, which is between Writers Drafts Due and Claims, or the week of February 24th, which is between Claims and Deadline for Writers to Send a Complete Draft to their Artists. However, since the responses would all be in comments, there would be no time limit to when you could participate. You could respond to prompts the week of or after the bang is over or anytime in between!

What do you think of this idea? Obviously the success of this prompt week would depend on your ability/willingness to participate, so if there isn’t any interest, we won’t move forward with the idea. But if there is interest, we’d love to provide more opportunities for the creation of Ruby 2.0/Genvieve fanwork.

Please let us know in the comments if you’re interested or if you have questions or any thoughts on the timing.
