The cover scares me too. I concur: it doesn't look like seduction, it looks like date rape. What a poor choice for an image. The review is promising (and wow, the Amazon rating is really high, too), but not enough to tempt to me read the bookmostly, it's just good to know that the creepy cover doesn't reflect the novel itself.
In all honesty, I gave Broken such a high rating not so much because I loved it, but because it's incredibly well written. I liked it, but parts of it were uncomfortable to read. Not squicky, just... the types of topics people don't like to talk about, like how hard it is to have a disabled husband. Which, incidently, is part of the point of the novel.
it doesn't look like date rape per se... more like child molestation. Her skinny little girl thighs and little girl hand and perfect unblemished little girl skin. Frankly most models (well catalog models anyway) are under 16 anyway -- the reason the girls in their bathing suits look 13 is because they ARE 13 -- but its especially creepy when the counterpart male model is obviously like 30?
I guess I'm all for people boinking like bunnies though. Heck, why not.
Hee! I have nothing against books that consist of sex scene after sex scene per se, they're just not my personal cup of tea. All power to those who enjoy them, though.
I have read several of Megan's books, and I must say we can't really out her genre in a erotica category. All of her books have a deeper meaning and show us a little bit of hope for ones self, but letting us know there are people out there who feel this way too. But more and more her books lean more to a how to or self help book rather than an erotic thriller that allows me an escape from my everyday. Broken is the last I will ever read of her books. By the by the only one I did enjoy was Stranger.
