This is interesting: author Mary Robinette Kowal is hosting The Month of Letters Challenge in February, which is to commit to writing one letter every post day in February (which adds up to 24 letters). It could be a full letter, or a postcard, or a package... as long as it's something that goes through the post. I have to admit, I'm pretty intrigued by this idea and am pretty tempted to join in for it. Mail is fun! If any of you are interested in participating, let me know. Maybe we can arrange a mail exchange.
Also in February, Grand Central Publishing has announced it will launch a new digital imprint for romances, Forever Yours. The first two e-books to be released are Kristen Callahan's Ember and Jennifer Haymore's Once Upon A Wicked Night. It should be interesting to see where this goes, since Grand Central already publishes quite a few romances. According to the press release, "Forever Yours will be accepting submissions from agented and unagented authors alike, and publishing short-form novellas (10,000 to 50,000 words) as well as longer length novels (up to 100,000 words). Submissions can be sent to foreveryours@hbgusa.com."
And for a bit of goofiness, check out Ralph Fiennes reading Harry Potter fan fiction on Bravo TV. Not just any fan fiction: erotic fan fiction featuring Voldemort. I'm hoping the video works in all areas, although I can tell you it definitely works for those in Canada and the US.
