Name: Walter Kovacs aka Rorschach (which he would strongly prefer to be referred to as)
Series: Watchmen
Age: 45

Personality:
There is, really, only one word that can sum up Rorschach's entire personality: Sociopath. But I'll go further. Rorschach only sees in black and white. To him, there are no grey areas. There is evil and good. He is a vigilante of justice, fighting in what he believes is the path of good. In the beginning of his vigilante justice, he did not kill those he saw, feeling that he was too soft on the scum. It was only later, after a horrible case involving a child murder that he officially cracked and became who he is today. That's honestly all there is to Rorschach. He is mostly anti-social, he hates "scum", he is very serious about his work, and he is a "good person". Or... He believes that he is, and that's all that matters, right?

Background:
Walter Kovacs's beginnings were far from pleasant. His father, a man only referred to as "Charlie", left before Walter had ever met him. His mother, Sylvia Kovacs, then became a prostitute to support herself. Walter learned early on too much about life. He was frequently beaten. On one occasion, about a year before his letter to Hogwarts, while his mother was having sex, he believed her to be in trouble, so he barged in on her and her client. Her client, angered by the intrusion, did not pay his mother what she was hoping for, and in turn, she beat Walter and told him that he was an ugly bastard and that she should have aborted him. Not long after that, he was harassed by two boys who called his mother a whore. In his anger, he attacked them with a power he didn't know he had (which turned out to be magic). He ended up in an orphanage shortly after this until his letter arrived.

At Hogwarts, Walter continued to suffer from bullying, though he was far from innocent. He mostly kept to himself, finding that he couldn't stand most of the students, and those students that he could stand didn't like to really be around him. He was fine with this. He kept to his studies, becoming efficient at all that he applied himself to. Here was also when he began studying people and how they acted, beginning his odd detective work. His mother never spoke to him again after he was 11, and she was found murdered when he was 16. He believed her death to be well-deserved. He had already begun to sort people into categories, and she was scum.

After graduating from school, Walter found it hard to keep a Wizarding job for a long time. He managed by working in a muggle garment shop for the time, and he believe it ended up being the best place for him later on in life, thankful that he could not keep a good Wizard job because of his mental state. A woman had ordered a dress of strange material, but ended up not purchasing it because she thought it was ugly. Walter disagreed and took the dress home. He forget about it for a time until a couple of years later when the woman he was sure ordered the dress ended up on television. She had been raped and tortured in plain sight, and nobody had helped her. That was the day Rorschach was born. In her memory, he made the dress into a mask, charming the black ink-like stains to move into patterns like the ink blots he took his new name after.

After a few years of vigilante justice using magic, the Ministry finally brought him in. He was not fit to be let loose on society, and so he was taken into the Department of Mysteries and not heard from in years. Or, at least, that is what people know. At some point, Walter died after seeing the atrocities the people of the world--Muggle and Wizard alike--could commit, and all that was left was his new identity.

It is rumored that he was part of some military, under a secret organization called "Watchmen" (not the actual term for their group in comic, but it sounds better than "Crimebusters"). But these are rumors. Rorschach does not comment on rumors. You do not know Rorschach.

Blood:(full, half, muggle-born) Muggle-born.

Preferred House: Gryffindor
Why you think they belong in this house? Well, Rorschach is undeniably chivalrous, a true hero that is ridding the world of evil. In his opinion. In the canon story, he was the only one of the group who felt that the people of Earth deserved to know the truth. He goes out of his way to bring justice to the world. He is reckless and brave (and when he was a student at Hogwarts, he really wasn't as messed up as he is now).

Staff Position: Social Studies
Why you think they fit this position? He is perfect for this position for this reason: Rorschach has spent his sociopathic life studying society. Social. Studies. =D
