Everyone has obligations that they need to meet. If he couldn't find a way to make himself happy without the expense of everyone else he should have chosen a different career.

Happy in the beginning. Year after year of performing, the audience stealing his laughter right from him. Good at what he did, suffering now.

What other careers are available to him now? Does he still want to live?
