well WHMs unfortunately i think tend to just look at the numbers and if you have around 1k they don't cure you, even if that's only like 40% of my hp =\
Some let me down to get to red hp to get a nice screenshot like Divine Seal + cure5 = genome recovers 1300something hp.
On a funny sidenote, In my last mnk pt we had a 4 mob link, and I survived death by 9hp o.O I should have taken a screenshot.

That's a lot of HP :3

I always hear MNK complaining that they have a lot of HP but crappy defense ^^;

Yes monk's base defense is very low, plus our equipment is also pretty low in defense, although at 72-75 we get higher defense than PLD's koenig, and god gear which is even higher (more than PLD af2). With def. food and defender I can get decently high defense, around 500 i think, but it's generally not worth the loss in damage potential.

Monk survives/tanks using his PLD-like high VIT, and by evading/dodging, countering, guarding, and by killing as fast as possible.
Counterstance makes my defense drop to around 34, the same of a lvl 7 job, yet it's usually better for saving mp in the long run. I got as high as 69-70% counter rates on even hard mobs like a sea god NM. In comparison shadow mantle only activates 10% of the times and it doesn't damage the mobs when it does.

Nice, but the SJ ...o.o anonymous September 16 2006, 01:53:53 UTC
I was wondering since the SAM job has more HP than warrior, have you tried going MNK/SAM to see how much additional HP it adds? it might be about 20-60, I'd imagine. Maybe a little more.

No actually /SAM and /WAR give exactly the same amount of HP (I have tested all 18 subjobs by the way).
