my niece's 13th birthday was this week and the camera that i ordered online was back ordered. so that she had something to open up at her party i made a paper mock-up of the camera and had my co-worker kevin come up with a fun little fairy tale to put in a homemade card. i think it's really cute and worth sharing....

I present to you a tale of woe, like no other in the history of Birthdays.

Once upon a time there was a princess named Lauren. Lauren was loved and
worshiped throughout the land, but was most especially adored by her kooky
Aunt Jen who lived in the condemned clock tower near the edge of town.
The time came when the entire kingdom gathered together to celebrate
Princess Lauren's 13th day of birth with great feasting and gifts. Kooky
Aunt Jen was so excited for this day because she was sure that she had the
most perfect gift in all the land. But as Aunt Jen logged onto the magic
information system known as the internet, she was greeted with a most
disturbing magical mail message. Her wonderful gift had been stolen by the
evil wizard, BackOrder who promised not to relinquish her prize for a period
of 4-6 weeks or until the Camera Elves decided to end their wages strike.
Bereft and distraught Aunt Jen scurried from her clock tower and rushed to
the nearest pink accessory store to furnish Princess Lauren with a beautiful
pink camera case and a crudely made paper mock up of the wonderful gift she
had intended to give.

So please, Princess Lauren, do take pity on kooky Aunt Jen and place all
blame on the Camera Elves as you wait for your magical camera.
