Data Recording 003: Spring is in the air!

Mar 16, 2011 10:55

The weather has started to take a turn for the better as Winter gives way to Spring and Tachikoma is slightly glad about this. While it doesn't "feel the cold," others do, and now that it is warming up, that means more people will be about about. And more people means the chance at more interactions which means more experiences ( Read more... )

[Hey there, Tachikoma. Have a high school girl standing there staring at you in awe while you work.]

AWESOME!

[Tachikoma at the moment hasn't really realized that it is the reason for the girl staring at in awe. It's noticed her, of course, but it is still going about doing yard-work.]

[Never one to be shy about these sorts of things, Yuna walks right on up to the Tachikoma and starts making circles around it, looking at its claw-arm and weapons and stuff.]

[Tachikoma decides to pay more attention to the girl now that she's approached it, moving counter to the circles of examinations she seems to be making.]

Um, hello there?

You can talk too? Oh man, this is the best!

Well, yes, I can talk. I guess it's not very obvious that I can since I don't seem to have any moving mouth parts, but it was figured I could better communicate with non-think tank members of my team if I could talk as well.

Though the Major seems to not like that we can. And has chided us for talking too much quite a number of times...

That's so cool! So where are your weapons? I bet you've got laser cannons and stuff mounted on there somewhere, right?

Oh, well, I don't exactly have any offensive laser cannons. That's mostly science fiction and a reliable weapon that can fire a lethal beam of light was never put into my design.

Most of my weapons aren't usable now it seems though. My control software for most of them seem to be blocked or just not there, and I can't actually do a mechanical diagnostic on myself, so I can't tell if it's merely a software issue or the item has been physically removed. I do seem to have the machine guns set up in my arms and the grenade port still, but without access to the control software, I can't fire them even if they were loaded.

It is a bit worrisome, and at times I wonder if the sensation of my missing systems is like the "phantom limb" phenomenon that humans who lose a limb experience, even when they replace it with a mechanical one...

Then there's the systems I have that seem rather not very useful currently without the others. I seem to be able to open and close my pod, but as it seems no one has a cyberbrain, no one can really take control. Not to mention I have no way of knowing if the screens still display or work in there.

Wait, you have a pod? Can I ride inside sometime? I bet it looks just like one of those Gundam arcade games in there!

[And now Yuna's climbing all over looking for where the hatch opens.]

[Tachikoma doesn't mind the search, its been through diagnostics before, after all]

Oh, my rear section is where a person can get in, one moment.

[Suddenly the top of the rear pod lifts up slightly and tilts toward the front, followed by the back two-thirds of it swinging open to the sides like a clam-shell to allow the easiest access to the inside of the pod.]

See? Though you can get in from just the top too if you need to or are in a hurry. Or under fire, since my body is armored.

If you'd like a ride sometime, that's fine, if anything it would help me figure out what controls are definitely working back there currently.

[Tachikoma closes up the pod, turning around to offer a claw to shake.]

Oh, but let me introduce myself, I'm Tachikoma! It's a pleasure to meet you!

That's so cool! I'd love to take a ride in there someday!

[Yuna grins, shaking the claw.]

Nice to meet you, Tachikoma! I'm Yuna!
