Dear Mr. Riordan,
You just sunk my ship permanently. I hope you're happy.

I didn't want to comment on your other blog as people might kill me for spoilers. but I didn't think the Nico development came out of field. I guess I've been reading a lot of LGBT lit lately, but it's a common portrayal of homosexual feelings from teenagers who see themselves as heterosexuals. His dour attitude makes much more sense now, for me. :)

That said, I never really saw Nico's dourness as an effect of isolation (which he chose for himself) or being excluded (because Annabeth made an effort). Abandonment's an issue most everyone in the series deals with.
Nico's set-up is actually very similar to Andrew Lincoln's character in Love Actually. Yes, I'm comparing him to a heterosexual character. Because I don't think Nico's gay. :) I think he had a crush on Percy and misinterpreted it as him being gay. Which is why I didn't see it coming out of field. :)

>> I KNOW! Which was my main trouble with the first books of Heroes of Olympus. LOL
Nico not being gay
>> Hmmm. That would be my obvious choice (shippiness and all), but I don't think RR's going to go that way. Too big of a backlash. If ever, he might make Nico bisexual instead of homosexual.
