more detailed thoughts on the 2009 CDC
So there we have it folks.
UP for 3rd - Really? After a technically difficult routine with only one error and a kick-ass theme? WTF? I loved UP's theme. Sapol sa puso
From Yano's "State U" (though it would have been awesome if they included the lines about antique facilities
) to "UP Ang Galing Mo" to the Ikot jeep and blue book, it was a routine designed to pump up school pride. Maybe that was the problem though. Hindi gets ng judges? I mean, do non-UP folks know about the sablay and how important it is? I loved Sugarfree's "Hari ng Sablay" paired with the sablay prop. Heehee. UP PEP IS AWESOME!!!
UP still sets the standard for the complete integration of music, moves, costumes, and props into one cohesive routine.
ADMU for 2nd - just because of the floating Moonwalk? Really now. I'll gladly admit that that move was inspired and something new, but that was the ONLY remarkable thing about the whole routine. They had fewer and less difficult stunts, plus they also had someone fall. Do I sense some MJ nostalgia boosting their bid? I figured they'd get 3rd but never ever 2nd, especially over UP.
FEU for 1st - hmm. The routine was clean and also good. The pyramids were also nice, though UP was still better in the general acrobatics (tosses, tumbling runs). I hated the chicken. Eww. I figured it would have been a close fight with UP for first but with UP winning.
