this past week
Wow. I actually went 5 whole days without posting anything. Weird.
Sunday - shopping galore in ATC. The rationale: sale eh! ^-^ Might as well get everything I needed/wanted during the sale period. Ended up with 2 shirts and a blouse from Kamiset (50% off), rubber shoes (30% off - and they're purple! :p), and a padded sleeve for my laptop (sadly not on sale). Really really wanted to get the blue Timberland backpack (p640 from p1500!) but I knew Mom would never pay for it since my old backpack is still functional albeit a little temperamental at times (the teeth of the zippers won't stay locked!). I would have paid for it right then and there but my dad was with me :p Will try sneaking it this weekend.
Monday - Got told off in 120 lec for sleeping in class. Start of the 120 lab practicals - had to pour 3 sterile agar plates. First boring discussion for 170, then plankton for MS102. What's frustrating about MS102 (Marine Science) is that I fought tooth and nail to take this subject and it's turned out to be such a disappointment. I don't feel like I'm learning anything new. I realize it was meant to be a general science subject that a non-CS student can take but still! Almost everything they've discussed so far is stuff I already know from high school, bio subjects, and independent reading.
Overnight at Leslie's house for the 160 paper. Our group is the perfect mix: we have the genius (Abi), the ones with laptops (me and Ton), someone with a house near UP (Leslie), someone to edit the paper (Jameez), and someone with a car (Jason) :p We ended up starting at around 9pm because we had dinner in McDo Katips. Leslie wouldn't let me get my coffee :( (my wallet thanked her though :p)
Tues - Fell asleep at around 4:30am, woke up at 5:30 to the sight of Abi and Ton still working. We all had to go back to UP by 7 because of Abi's 150 lec. Finished the paper after the reagent prep for the IC pond fieldwork. Bangag kaming lahat for the rest of the day.
Wed - got roped into giving the marketing workshop for the Rep applicants. Huh. It was a quick one, as I really didn't know what to say. Bwahahaha. Didn't have any funny or outrageous stories of my own to tell. Ended up in a Harry Potter discussion with B (he gave the publicity workshop). Eshei left us alone after 15 straight minutes of nothing but Potter :p We ended up discussing ships (bakit kaya?) and it turns out he's R/Hr. But he does admit that H/Hr also has a lot of ammunition. "Shipping is a preference", he says. He said something interesting though: since everything you see onscreen was approved by JKR, the movies can be considered canon as well. What do you guys think?
Oh, and it turns out that B graduated high school from Zobel. Wahahaha. Kaya pala :p And a slightly weird part of our conversation:
B: Galing kang Zobel di ba?
Me: Yup. Why do you ask?
B: Iba mag-Ingles ang Alabang e. At ganun ka din. May accent.
Me: Eh? Pano yun?
B: Hindi conyo pero may twang. It's as if it's your first language, not your second.
(Later, I asked my roommate if I spoke English with an accent. She said yes immediately and described it almost exactly the same way B did: like it's your first language, not your second. Huh. Opinions anyone?)
Then we started talking about how the people who go to ATC (he still lives in Alabang) wear pambahay clothes pero huwag ka! Their slippers are Havaianas, their shorts are from Billabong, and their shirts are Ralph Lauren. Wahahaha. Then we also talked about how we got teased when we changed schools (me to Pisay, him to UP) because we always spoke in English. "Napilitan akong mag-Tagalog sa UP." True! :p And in Pisay also.
Studied for the 120 lec exam.
Thurs - 120 lec exam. Hay. I hate 120. Part II of the 120 lab practical exam. Whoohoo! 3 sterile plates! ^-^ Inoculated one pf the plates with E. coli, kept the rest in the ref. Uber short 170 lecture because of the ACLE. I love ACLE ^-^ One entire afternoon (12-4pm) without classes. The shitty part is that I still have a 6-7pm class. Bwiset. Submitted the OICA forms and faxed marketing letters during the long break. And I saw Lyndon Gregorio in CASAA. Apparently, PugadSayk invited him to speak during their ACLE on geek stuff - he got sandwiched between Magic: The Gathering and Dungeons and Dragons :p Ended up buying 3 buttons from him. I ♥ Jimmy. He's so clueless ^-^
Fri - prepped stuff for tomorrow, reporting. And faxed even more letters. And snuck out of the Rep script workshop.
Won't be going to the SWP/PHP trooping or OPTICS' exhibit setup. Instead, I will be spending the whole day in the *gasp!* library. I have a ton of labreps and papers due. And I haven't even started writing my thesis yet. Hay.
And will have to get my laptop's keyboard checked out. The spacebar sticks. Have to pound on it to get it to work. Which is frustrating since I'm usually a very fast typist. Argh.
6am field work tomorrow. So cool.
Am jealous. fallen_nerd is now at the Backstreet Boys concert in Araneta. Sad. What a time for my dad not to be working in Araneta anymore. We might have scored some free tickets :P
